How to delete your vacayi data

Two ways to delete, and you get to choose

vacayi does not make you close your account to get rid of something.

1. Delete one thing and keep your account — a trip, a traveller, a photo, an idea. See below.
2. Delete your account and everything in it. See "Deleting your account".

Both are in the app, and take effect immediately. Both can also be done by email if you no longer have vacayi installed: write to support@vacayi.app from the address your account uses, saying what you want deleted. We will confirm and complete it within 30 days, and usually the same week.

Before you delete anything, you can keep a copy. Settings → ⬇ Export my data gives you everything we hold.

1. Deleting one thing, without deleting your account

Each of these happens straight away, in the app, with no request to us.

What deleting a trip takes with it

This is the one worth being exact about. Deleting a trip permanently removes:

• the guide itself, every earlier version of it, and its undo history
• every booking image you uploaded to it, and every photo shared to it by anyone
• your conversations with the in-guide assistant about that trip
• its checklist, comments, reactions and activity feed
• your progress, ticks, notes and stars on it
• the rendered guide files and the trip's card photograph, removed from storage

You do not have to ask, and nothing about it is recoverable afterwards.

What we cannot delete for you

• A photo you shared to someone else's trip can be removed by you at any time, and the trip's owner can also remove it. Nobody else can.
• What other people wrote on a trip you own — their comments, their checklist items — belongs to them. Deleting the trip deletes all of it.
• A store subscription. If you have vacayi Pro, cancel it in your device's Google Play or App Store settings. Deleting data or an account here does not cancel a subscription, and we cannot cancel one for you.

2. Deleting your account

In the app — Settings → 🗑 Delete my account. It takes effect immediately.

Without the app — email support@vacayi.app from the address your account uses, with the subject Delete my account. We will confirm and complete it within 30 days, and usually the same week. If you can no longer send mail from that address, write from any address and we will verify another way before deleting anything.

What is deleted

• Your profile, your crew and your pets — names, age bands, dietary, accessibility and mobility notes
• Every trip and every guide you have made, including guides shared with you and guides you shared with others
• Uploaded booking images and any photographs stored with your guides
• Every photo you ever shared to a trip, including photos you shared to other people's trips
• Your assistant conversations, and the undo history and earlier versions of your guides
• Your idea list, and your progress, stars, read state and mute settings
• Checklists, comments and reactions on your own trips
• Your support messages and any guide feedback you sent
• Push notification tokens for your devices
• Your friendships and any pending invitations
• Your credit balance, every charge against it, and the records of each guide being built

What is kept, and why

Very little, and none of it names you.

What you wrote on someone else's trip stays on their trip, with your name taken off. A comment, a checklist item you added or ticked, and the line in the activity feed recording a change you made all survive — as anonymous entries, permanently unlinked from you. We do it this way because the alternative is worse for the people you travelled with: deleting your account would silently tear items out of a shared list they are still using. If you want something you wrote removed as well as anonymised, delete it before you delete your account, or ask us and we will.

The log of purchase notifications sent to us by Apple, Google or RevenueCat. We keep those with your user ID removed, because they record a transaction those companies also hold and it is how a payment dispute gets resolved months later. Once your account is gone they cannot be connected back to you.

Aggregate counts that never identified anyone — how many guides were built in a month — also remain. Nothing kept can be used to identify or contact you, and none of it can rebuild an account.

Unused credits are forfeited when you delete your account, and cannot be restored or transferred afterwards.
